An Arc Shapefile format of the proposed Colorado roadless Areas (CRAs). The shapefile reflects the proposed CRAs from each of the National Forests within the State of Colorado. The statewide proposed CRA shapefile was compiled by the Regional Office's Geospatial Services by using the CRAs provided by each Forest within the State, and merging the individual data files (geodatabases; coverages, shapefiles) into one statewide shapefile
Edits/Corrections:
On June 21, 2011 the San Juan NF submitted corrections to two roadless area polygons; Turkey Creek CRA & West Needles CRA.
On June 21, 2011, the ARNF submitted a correction to one roadless area polygon; Hell Canyon CRA.
On June 24, 2011, the White River NF submitted corrections to roadless area polygons: Pagoda Peak; Morapos B; North Elk; East Divide/Four Mile Park; Crystal River; Boulder.
On July 6, 2011 the Routt NF submitted corrections to roadless area polygons.
Most of the changes result from updated road locations that the forest has fixed as it has worked on the Motor Vehicle Use Map, although a few are due to land exchanges or updates to older incorrectly placed ownership polygons. The land exchange updates make only fairly small changes in roadless acreage. The road location updates only make extremely small changes in roadless acreage.
1. The western tip of road 640.1, Lone Pine Road, whose location has been corrected, was removed from the Kettle Lakes roadless area.
2. The private property around Matheson Reservoir was updated to correct a poorly delineated old polygon which resulted in removal of a small portion of the Troublesome South roadless area.
3. The northern end of road 311.1 Base Camp Road has been corrected. The new location leaves the road edge in contact with the Long Park roadless area boundary. The boundary has been fixed to reflect the updated road location.
4. In the Morrison area on Yampa, an ownership polygon was updated to reflect a past land exchange. This resulted in removing a few small pieces of the Bushy Creek roadless area.
5. Along the eastern edge of the Dome Peak roadless area an updated ownership polygon location resulted in removal of a small sliver of roadless.
6. Have updated GPS locations for buildings and corrected road location associated with Big Creek Lake Block D recreation residence cabin, moved the Kettle Lakes roadless area boundary back a sliver to avoid these.
7. Have updated building and road locations associated with the Walton Peak Special Use Communication Site. Moved the Walton Peak roadless boundary back a sliver to avoid these.
8. Updated location for road 630.1, Aqua Fria, removed a bit of the Grizzly Helena roadless area.
9. Updated location for the N Red Canyon road (which still shows incorrectly in MVUM as this update isn't incorporated there yet) removed a bit of the Kettle Lakes roadless area.
10. Updated location for road 100.1, Red Dirt, removed a sliver of the Barber Basin roadless area.
11. Updated location for road 226.1, Deadman, removed a sliver of the Bushy Creek roadless area.
12. Updated location for road 16.1, Marvine-Phippsburg, removed a bit of the Pagoda Peaks roadless area.
13. Updated location for road 110.1, Black Mountain, removed a bit of the Black Mountain roadless area.
14. Updated location for road 116.1, Circle Creek, removed a bit of the Sugarloaf South roadless area.
15. Updated location for road 80.1, State Line, removed a sliver of the Dome Peak roadless area.
On July 18, 2011 the GMUG NF submitted corrections to roadless area polygons. The changes reflect adjustments to polygons because of improved road locations. The roadless areas that were adjusted are as follows: American Flag Mountain; Beaver; Castle; Clear Fork; Cochetopa Hills; Electric Mountain; Flat Irons; Flattop Mountain; Kannah Creek; McClure Pass; Mount Lamborn; Poverty Gulch; Sanford Basin; Sawtooth; Soap Creek; Sunset; Tomahawk; Turner Creek; Unaweep; Whetstone
In August 2011, the San Juan National Forest submitted corrections to roadless area polygons.
The statewide shapefile of the proposed Colorado Roadless Areas (CRAs) was compiled for interested entities to review.
